João Pato, también conocido como Duckman, es un proyecto vinícola creativo
y artesanal liderado por Maria Pato, hija del emblemático productor Luís Pato
y hermana de João Pato.
La marca busca desafiar las convenciones y experimentar con etiquetas innovadoras.
Maria elabora vinos naturales y veganos de mínima intervención, sin clarificar ni filtrar, con uvas de la Quinta do
Riberinho en la región de Bairrada. Esta filosofía minimiza la intervención tanto en el viñedo como en la bodega, garantizando que los vinos sean expresiones auténticas de su lugar de origen.
Los viñedos se ubican en un enclave costero a unas dos horas al norte de Lisboa compuesto de suelos calcáreos y arenosos, con una fuerte influencia atlántica, reflejan la frescura y mineralizad de los vinos.
La viticultura que sustenta los vinos de Duckman se centra en las variedades autóctonas de uva Bairrada como:
Baga, Maria Gomes, Sercialinho, Cercial, Bical.

Organic fertilizers are used
as compost, manure and
other natural materials to enrich the soil and provide the nutrients necessary for the growth of vines.
Techniques are implemented to prevent soil erosion, such as planting vegetative covers between the rows of vines and applying minimal or no tillage practices.
During the winemaking process, chemical additives are avoided and the handling of the wine is minimized. The use of natural yeasts and the reduction of sulfites are encouraged.

The moon in relation to the earth and its sidereal cycles, the biodynamic agricultural calendar helps the farmer know the right time to prune, fertilize and harvest.
No herbicides are used and the vegetation is allowed to grow freely between the rows of the vines.
Natural fertilizers are made with animal excrement that is introduced into cow horns and buried to later dynamize them in water and apply it to the vineyard.
